Youth Ministries

Maurice Youth Ministries exist to nurture the youth of the church and community into a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ and equip them to be Christ-like servants with a lifestyle that honors and glorifies God.

Maurice 1st Reformed Church (MRC) provides several programs and opportunities for students in grades 6th through college to discover and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Students will experience Christ-centered gatherings that are made up of students of "like age" and adult volunteers who are passionate about serving and sharing the love of Jesus Christ with others. The listing below is our current program offerings.

Junior High Ministries

Jr. GAP (God's Awesome People)

Grades 6, 7 & 8. - The Jr. GAP meets every Wednesday from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in the church’s Bus Barn.

Jr. GAP uses a variety of activities and events to encourage, nurture and equip students on their faith journey. Some of these include: small groups, outreach nights, youth conferences and retreats, lock-ins, service projects, evangelism training. Meetings include games and mixers, Bible lesson/topic discussion and lunch (provided by students). Some of our favorite events include our Traveling Lock-In, Super Bowl Party, Power Connection, Dare 2 Share, Middle School Retreat, leading a Youth Sunday Service in the evening, sub sandwich fundraiser, and the summer Paullina camp out.

High School Ministries

Senior High Youth Group

Grades 9, 10, 11 & 12.
The Senior High Youth Group meets every Wednesday during the school calendar year from 6:45 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. in the Youth Room.

Our time together is designed around fellowship and discipleship, helping create an atmosphere of belonging while encouraging students to have their walk with Christ influence all aspects of life.  Service is another area important in helping to make this connection.  Our youth group is made up of students from various schools and towns in the surrounding area.  A typical Wednesday night consists of an interactive activity, Bible study, and discipleship groups with sometimes a challenge/task thrown in.

High Schoolers have the opportunity to attend a growth group that meets from 9:40am - 10:40am on Sunday mornings during the school year. This Fall, Sr High will have a Profession of Faith class where students will be reflecting on their beliefs and studying the doctrines of the Christian faith.

Teens Encounter Christ Retreats (TEC)

Students in 10, 11 & 12 can apply to be retreat participants (candidates). TEC Retreats are held at host churches throughout Northwest Iowa.

TEC is an interdenominational spiritual retreat based on the "stations" of the cross and is designed to meet young people where they are at in their lives. MRC supports and encourages this ministry as many of our students have experienced and continue to work at these retreats. MRC will pay half the student’s application fee.
