Kurt Van Noord

Equipping Pastor

Biography

Kurt Van Noord joined the MRC team as Equipping Pastor in May of 2012.  Kurt grew up in Michigan. He has an Associates in Business from Grand Rapids Junior College and a Bachelors’s Degree in Christian Ministries from Azusa Pacific University. Kurt and his wife Jen were married in 1997 and they have two “superheroes” (sons). Kurt has served at churches in Iowa, Omaha, and a Camp and Retreat Center in Michigan prior to joining MRC’s team. Kurt  is a sports fan (especially football and hockey) and enjoys fantasy football. His favorite teams are Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Redwings,  Detroit Lions, and Detroit  Tigers (oh my!). Kurt loves to hunt, coach his sons sports teams, NASCAR, and anything to do with water activities (boating, waverunning). He enjoys BBQ and Mexican food.  As a family they love to play board games, disc golf,  travel, be outside, and experience all life has to offer.  First and foremost, Kurt loves Jesus! His passion is to help people love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, strength, and love others, and to help them be intentionally available to be used by God to be who God created them to be.

Wick Hubers

Calling & Congregational Care Pastor

Wick is a son of Maurice Reformed Church, moving to Maurice with his family when he was a Junior in High School.  After graduating from Kuyper College (RBC) in 1977, he and Debbie Marlink were married in Western Michigan.  For several years Wick and Deb worked at various jobs living in Iowa and Michigan.  It was also several years of Wick being hounded by God until he finally returned to school, enrolling in Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI, graduating in 1989.  The Hubers served congregations in Cedar, IA and Le Mars, IA before Wick became Chaplain at the nursing home in Waupun, WI.  In 2015 the Hubers returned to NW Iowa, closer to where most of their seven children and grandchildren live.  Wick loves coming alongside others and encouraging them in their own journeys through life.  He loves Jesus and loves seeing people experience God’s faithfulness. He’s excited to have returned full circle in his life to a place he holds near and dear to his heart.

Jon Eveland

Youth Pastor

Biography

Jon – our youth pastor – was born and raised in Oskaloosa, Iowa.  He was married on October 17, 2015 to Rachel Schuiteman. He is a 2014 graduate of Northwestern College with a major in Christian Education/Youth Ministry and a minor in Religion.  Prior to his last two years of college at Northwestern he spent a year a peace at UNI and Iowa State, and if you are wondering about his story, please ask!  Jon enjoys sports – especially cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones, Denver Broncos and Atlanta Braves – being outside playing catch or shooting hoops, listening to music, being with friends, learning new things, getting into deep conversations and being with family.

Jon has a love and passion for people and helping students grow in their understanding of who God is and what He has done and continues to do for us. His dream is that our students will know Jesus as the incarnate, crucified and resurrected King!

Bonnie Wolf

Children's Pastor

Bonnie Wolf is a Maurice girl at heart. Born and raised in Maurice she has always had a heart for Maurice Reformed Church and after moving back to the area was thrilled to become the children’s pastor. Bonnie loves children and has her elementary education degree. She enjoys teaching and continues to substitute at the area schools when she can.

 

Bonnie is the mother of three boys, two were married this summer and the last will marry in the spring! Zackaria and Kristina live in Sheldon, Elijah and Brittney live in Dakota Dunes, and Samuel and Rachael live in Ames.

 

Spending time with her kids is Bonnie’s favorite pastime. She also enjoys baking and cooking or anything to do in the kitchen! Bonnie feels blessed beyond measure and praises God for all He does for her each day. God is so good!

Jo Dekker

Secretary

Biography

Jo has been on staff as secretary at Maurice Reformed since 1980 (yes, she’s been around the block a few times!)  She grew up in the Sioux Center area, graduated from Western Christian and attended Dordt College two years. She has lived in the Maurice area since her marriage to Paul in 1961.  They have two grown children, a daughter in law, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Jo’s hobbies are scrapbooking and baking (mostly for others.)   A summer vacation to Rush Lake, MN with their family is a highlight along with getaways to other parts of the country throughout the year. Their dream vacation to Alaska was fulfilled a couple summers ago.  

 Jo’s passion is helping others and that pretty much sums up her duties at MRC.  She calls herself a “minister of assistance.”

Jan Budden

Assistant Secretary

Biography Jan and her husband Ken have been married for 40 years. She has been an assistant secretary here since 2001 and has enjoyed the job immensely. When she is not busy here at the church, you can find her at home helping Ken with their dog kennel where they raise puppies. They have been involved with dogs since 1985 and thoroughly enjoy it.  They have two children, Chris who has two boys, Casey and Kevin and April who is married to Robert Alexander and they have two girls, Adalynn who is three and Moriyah who is 18 months old and a son Eliott who was born this December of 2016.  Jan loves God and tries to follow His directions in her life.

Shellie Vander Schaaf

Music in Worship Coordinator

Biography

Shellie Vander Schaaf grew up in the Pacific Northwest...mainly Washington State.  After attending Bethel University, she returned to WA where she met her husband, Loren and had their two children, Eric and Michael who is married to Carrie. They have a daughter, Hannah.  In 1995, they followed God's leading and they moved on faith to their current home in Maurice, IA.  Shellie has been on staff since 2003 which continues to be an incredible blessing to her.  

Fun facts about her:  Is passionate about seeing individuals discover their musical gifts and using them to honor the Lord. She enjoys bicycle riding especially in the Black Hills and loves interior painting.

Mike  Kamerman

Custodian

I have been married since December 19, 2003 to Jamie. We have three children, all girls. Jaylee , Tessa , and  Jenna. I love playing guitar and worshipping our Lord and Savior through music and worship. I have been described as a “life long learner” and love to read books and research various topics. I also like to fish and go out to eat. My goal is to help others be successful in their respective area of ministry and to walk alongside people through that.
